American Girl does decustomise the dolls. Removing custom paint, changing back wigs, swapping out the eyes for the original kind, etc. is decustomisation. The term, "decustomisation" is used throughout the American Girl community, so I don't know why you're so offended by it. Sunnygirl3178 (talk) 14:58, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Your dolls are not being "de-customized" when they are sent in for repairs and returned without the customization placed on them, because in American Girl's eyes, from a product standpoint, they are not customs. The only customization American Girl endorses outside of the Create Your Own system are ear piercing, hearing aid application, and dolls without hair. All other customization--from as small as freckling to as complex as dying the full doll--are considered damaged. This wiki is not about the fan community. I honestly don't care what terms they use for what happens. This wiki is about the products and characters, and in the company's eyes, they don't "wipe the doll's makeup off," what they do is replace damaged product. Offended would imply I care about the term, when what I am is annoyed at editors using terms that imply that AG is somehow ruining what they'd done when American Girl has made it clear in stating that a highly customized doll just won't be touched at all and one they can restore to their standards is not "removing customization."
