March 6th, 2023 / Book and Collection Articles - New Rule
It's happened twice, so it has to be addressed.
Do not, under any circumstances, change the layouts on collection or book articles to remove, modify, or change headings. Yes, a character may only have one mystery book, or none, or you think furniture should be its own category and not under accessories. Don't change them. We have our layouts set and have for several years at this point. They are that way for a reason. It's still "mystery books" and "accessories" and the rest.
Messing with the article layout on Book and collection articles will result in a minimum two-week ban, which will escalate depending on number of affected articles.
It looks that way for a reason. Leave it alone, or you'll be done and dusted.
Today was Mattel's public investor meeting; due to the nature of the company as publicly traded, this information is open to the public, and information about future plans for American Girl were included. Some details presented include:
The Girl of the Year release is to move to prior to the major winter holiday season, to allow purchasers to buy items through the large shopping season. A logo for the future Girl of the Year 2024 was presented, but no further data about the character or the updated release schedule has been released.
The reissue of Kit Kittredge and items themed to her Classic Collection, similar to Molly's re-release in 2022.
Fewer, more experiential stores; this may mean the closure of more locations and enhancement of the remaining ones.
The Eternal Reminder of Our Rumors, Leaks, and Hearsay Policy goes here. It means we only accept official data from reliable sites. Any and all attempts to create articles about upcoming items, upload unofficial images, and/or add details, speculation, and rumors for upcoming products start with a six month block on the very first offense.
April 3rd, 2023 / Kit's 100th Birthday Celebration and Historical Fan Throwbacks
Happy 100th Birthday, Kit!
In celebration of the anniversary of Kit Kittredge's 100th birthday, the company has released a Special Edition Anniversary doll. The bundle includes the doll in the Classic Meet Outfit with Classic meet accessories, the first edition faded background style of Meet Kit with a special introduction by Valerie Tripp, and an older-style box with a clear visual window similar to the 35th anniversary doll. The Kit-iversary collection also includes re-released versions of the following items from Kit's Collection:
May 4, 2023 / Truly Me, Little Bitty Baby, and Bitty Baby Splash
May The Fourth be with you (enjoy the Wookiepedia link) with a small Truly Me release--including a miniature line, Little Bitty Baby--and a newer all-vinyl style of Bitty Baby for water play:
The upcoming benefit sale, held on June 24 and 25, 2023, will be the last American Girl Benefit Sale run by Madison Children’s Museum.
For the past 36 years, hundreds of volunteers and staff from Madison Children's Museum have worked countless hours to host the sale, and tens of thousands of shoppers have attended from throughout the country. Now, however, we must attend first and foremost to the work of being a children's museum. We have an ambitious year of work ahead of us; the considerable resources required to run the sale would conflict with that work. This is the right decision for MCM to best serve the children and families who depend on us. In close consultation with American Girl, we've decided to go out on a high note, have a great last sale, and go forward with other projects. American Girl is exploring new philanthropic avenues for this product and will be sharing the details of their future plans in early 2024--and we thank them for their support, enthusiasm, and incredible generosity. Because this is the last sale, we'll set prices and limits so nothing goes unsold. Everything will be priced to move, so expect to see deeper deals on Saturday than in previous years. On Sunday, we'll increase limits to sell as much as possible to clear the floor. The selection late Saturday and on Sunday may be VERY limited, so make your plans and set your expectations accordingly.
We are so thankful for all of the support, labor, and love that many people, including our friends at American Girl, have put into this sale over the past three decades. Together, we have raised millions of dollars and brought endless joy to countless children. We hope that during your visit to our final benefit sale, you’ll stop by downtown Madison and see the museum that dolls built.

July 6, 2023 / The Fifteenth Wiki Anniversary and New Stuff for Truly Me
Today marks the fifteenth year of the American Girl Wiki. History moves on and so do we. In the past five years there's been quite a bit: four new historical characters--Courtney, Claudie, and Isabel and Nicki (and thus, the near-full covering of the entire 20th century); an overhaul of the Truly Me line; the first deaf, first Chinese, and first Indian-American Girls of the Year; the World By Us Line; the end of American Girl Magazine and several stores; various collaborations, including multiple limited edition dolls; the return of Molly and the rerelease of Kit; American Girl inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame; and the 35th anniversary of American Girl itself.
And a whole entire and still ongoing pandemic.
I still remain thankful for my admins and content contributors, and everyone who's contributed in a positive sense. Even if you've just come across the Wiki in a search and are just glad to have more information (or want to find the truth on your old childhood products), then please keep coming back! We'll be here.
Back To School! Already?
New school-themed items and sports sets have been released for Truly Me. (Summer? Don't know her.) There are also children's and dolls' items in collaboration with the luggage brand STATE and the jewelry brand Stephanie Gottlieb.
Each doll is a limited run of 4,000; the dolls cannot be shipped outside of the US. Dolls were only available to Berry level members of AG Rewards for the first day of sale and dolls will only be sold online.

Go Sports! Get the Points!
The American Girl x NFL (National Football League) officially licensed collaboration released today. All 32 teams are represented with five teams having cheer uniforms, five having fan outfits, and the rest having fan tees. (So for ease we'll be grouping them like that.)

NFL Fan Outfit and Accessories (Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants)
September 15, 2023 / New Items for Nicki and Isabel
Party like it's 2000!
(hey that has alliteration)
New items have been added to Nicki's and Isabel's Collections, partially focused on the Millennium celebration and with clothing inspired by actual American Girl Today items available in the late 1990s. This also includes the release of their book, Meet Isabel and Nicki.
There is also a teaser for "fashion flashbacks" which are due to release on September 20th for 24 hours only (appearing to be the Ballet Costume II and Winter Magic Outfit), and news on the Instagram account that the 2024 Girl of the Year will launch October 7th. (ETA: This was erroneously stated initially to be Oct 4th but clarified by the company.) We will post more information about them then. (Don't break our rules on Rumors, Leaks, and Hearsay and the Article and Style Guide!)
Costco doll bundles for Truly Me and WellieWishers are available both online and in Costco Warehouses. Prices are, as usual, cheaper in the warehouse. Only two are out currently, with no knowledge of if more will be available in the future.
September 20, 2023 / The Encore Ballet Costume and Winter Magic Outfits - 24 Hours Only!
American Girl released Encore outfits of older outfits from the American Girl Today Collection: The Ballet Costume II from 1999 and the Winter Magic Outfit from 2004 (with selected accessories from the matching Winter Magic Accessories). The outfits were only available for 24 hours, had limited numbers (3,000 sets available for the Ballet Costume and 5000 for the Winter Magic Outfit), and sold out rapidly--so quickly they were both gone by the time Admin was free to put it on the news page. Que sera, sera.

Her full book, Lila Goes for Gold by Erin Falligant will come out in January. The brand is also donating $25,000 in retail value of Girl of the Year books to Save the Children's U.S. Literacy Program.
Julie Albright will be receiving a graphic novel titled Julie and the Blue Guitar in June of 2024; the plot includes a character of the modern era reading an old diary that involves learning about a mystery from 1977. The book is being published by IDW, a known comic book imprint, and the series is being called Mysteries Across Time. No further details are available at this time.

Dec 29th, 2023 / Clarification on Copyright Infringement and Video
The American Girl Wiki has a very clear policy on copyright and copyright infringement. Like any fan-run wiki, we ride a fine line between offering information and committing violations. Full text, full song lyrics, too many images from any book, and/or full data on book and movie contents (to name just a few things that constitute a copyright violation) can and will result in a violation of American Girl's copyright. We use images as fair use information, discuss media to inform rather than redirect away from legitimate sources, and always with encouragement, in the case of media--books, songs, movies, etc--to use first hand sources without using any methods of copyright violation or piracy.
This has needed a further clarification, due to a recent violation.
Violations include uploading entire episodes of any videos of shows, movies, and visual media. Yes, the entire WellieWishers series is on YouTube. And that's where it'd better stay. We aren't in any position to host a full video nor do we want to be. Any data about the series needs to point to the place it is legitimately available.
The reality is that no videos should be uploaded here at all. Images of items and characters are best done with still images, and clips from shows and movies are not wanted nor necessary.
Any and all violations of copyright start at two weeks for text and a month for video uploads. Any and all videos will be deleted immediately. Any lyrics listing will be purged immediately and, like video uploads, lead to a one month block. Continued actions will result in full banning.
