January 18th, 2011 / Blog Posts have a Purpose.
Blog posts are to have a purpose here, and their purpose is not being fulfilled. Therefore, all blog posts are to be run by the Admins before being posted--you may e-mail them to me, or contact me in some private method. They are not there for casual conversation or "discussion" questions better posted on a forum, but well thought out essays. If you a) are not an admin and b) have no history of posting to the Wiki, your blog posts will be deleted without warning. This rule is effective immediately. --Nethilia, Admin.

March 2011[]

March 28, 2011 / Felicity and Elizabeth officially archived, and a reminder.
1. Felicity and Elizabeth are now in the American Girl Archives, signifying their status as retired dolls. Their books, mini dolls, and Felicity's movie remain available for purchase.
2. I have been noticing a few trends on this wiki:
  • The creation of many shoddily-made articles, which do nothing but repeat information previously seen in other published articles. Please use the Search function to see if what you're looking for already exists in the wiki, and if what you're looking for doesn't exist, don't create a new page just because you can't find what you're looking for. Use some common sense and try different words to find what you're looking for. If a new article is required, please read the Policy on Article Creation before making one. Poorly made articles will be deleted without warning.
  • Flagrant violation of the first rule of the wiki (Facts only, no personal opinions). Please be as neutral or objective as possible, especially when writing characterization. Avoid using weasel words. It need not be said that this is a bannable offense.
  • Listing of unreleased products for any series. Yes, I'm aware Amazon.com and other online merchants have listings for unreleased AG products well before AG's corporate site posts them. However, do not list unreleased products on the wiki unless there is reasonable evidence (ie. a historical mystery that clearly identifies the Historical character). The admins prefer to build the wiki on solid facts, not pure speculation or rumors.

April 2011[]

April 30, 2011 / Washington DC and Seattle grand openings, possible Best Friend doll for Ana Rubin?
1. According to American Girl the Washington DC and Seattle stores are set to have their grand openings on the weekends of June 18 and July 16 later this year respectively.
2. Molly, Kit, Julie, and Rebecca have received new fashion portfolio kits. Of particular interest is Rebecca's fashion kit as it includes a picture of Ana Rubin in doll form. Note that this does not mean a Best Friend doll for Ana is forthcoming - until there is official word from AG, any rumors of an Ana Rubin doll (or any new Best Friend dolls for other Historicals) are just that: rumors.

May 2011[]

May 8th, 2011 / New Historical Information - Marie-Grace and Cécile
New information has leaked about two new historical characters that are down the line--Marie-grace and Cecile from 1850s New Orleans. It seems that they will be sharing their six book series and time period, and there have been some quick images of them. Cécile is a girl of color, and Marie-Grace is Caucasian.
As excited as we all may be about seeing new dolls and new information, there really is not enough information regarding this to start an article. Until there are clearer pictures and officially released images from American Girl--a press release would be best, since that's quite official--do not create articles regarding them. Remember, we want to do it right! Thanks, and happy editing!

May 29th, 2011 / No Anons on Articles
So many contributions....to an article, NOT to the actual project. And from people who have no cred. So as of today, if you want to comment on blog articles, you must do so with a user name, and you are expected to contribute to the project beyond commenting on blog posts. All comments by anonymous people will be deleted withing 24 hours of this post. This isn't a blog, it's a wiki, and if you want to comment on the blog you'll contribute to the project.

June 2011[]

June 8, 2011 / Sockpuppetry and abusing multiple accounts
If you register, get blocked for whatever infractions incurred, and decide to re-register to evade your block (however long it may be), at the very least refrain from doing the same behaviors that got you blocked in the first place. Anyone caught engaging in sockpuppetry or otherwise abusing multiple accounts to evade blocks will be permanently banned, including the original account AND associated sockpuppet accounts.

August 2011[]

August 3, 2011 / There is a palm and it is on my face because I can't take my eyes off this site for five seconds.
It profoundly disturbs me that for a wiki revolving not just around dolls but also books, there seems to be a distinct inability for people to utilize a skill called "reading comprehension". Believe it or not, the wiki DOES have rules and policies that must be adhered to, and the admins will not hesitate to ban (or permaban, for extreme cases) people for failing to follow said rules and policies.
This wiki is intended to be a serious project, and if you can't Be a Big Girl and behave yourself, then perhaps wiki-editing isn't for you. If you see a mistake, fix it and move on, if someone comes in and edits anything you've written, don't throw a tantrum, or start an edit war, or go crying from one admin to the other about how mean we're being to you, and if things need to be discussed or debated, that's what talk pages are for.
Given that the two newest Historical characters, Marie-Grace and Cécile, will be arriving soon, along with any possible news or information about Girl of the Year 2012, and while we're all excited for their arrivals, the admins will not tolerate any foolishness and nonsense such as poorly made articles, vandalism, or baseless speculation. Since the wiki is a spoiler heavy zone, please read and familiarize yourself with the Spoiler Policy as the admins are not responsible for ruining your excitement.

August 4, 2011 / Girl of the Year 2012 books
The books for Girl of the Year 2012 have been listed on Amazon.com:
The author is Mary Casanova, who has written a variety of AG books, including Chrissa's and Jess's books, as well Cécile: Gates of Gold from the Girls of Many Lands. Sports is mentioned on the book pages, possibly indicating a girl who might be involved in athletics. At this time there is no way to preorder the books via the posted Amazon links, but the books can be preordered via Barnes and Noble.
Until there's more information available, please refrain from baseless speculation. --AkaiKaze 06:03, August 4, 2011 (UTC)
August 7, 2011 / Marie Grace and Cécile Preview on AG website
It's official now--Cécile Rey and Marie-Grace Gardner have been released in preview on the American Girl website, along with their collection items:
Books:
And an American Girl First--if you preorder either of them, they will come with a bonus--an extra booklet.
We may all be excited, but the rules certainly apply more now than they ever did. Any poorly done pages will be immediately deleted without any ceremony. I'm not playing around.

August 18, 2011 / Marie-Grace and Cécile book previews on Amazon
Amazon has begun posting previews for Marie-Grace and Cécile's books, so far only Cécile's books and Marie-Grace Makes a Difference have sneak peeks. There is also a contest on Barnes and Noble to win both dolls and meet books; entrants must be 18 or older and the contest ends October 1.
In case anyone is new to the wiki, be sure to read the Spoiler Policy as the admins are not responsible for ruining your excitement. It need not be said any foolishness or mischief will not be tolerated.

Banhammer

See this banhammer? Don't make me use it.

Aside from Cécile and Marie-Grace's collections now available for purchase, the other product lines have received new outfits and items, including a new pet, Toasty, and two new dolls, Just Like You 56 and Just Like You 57, for the My AG line.
It still disturbs me that for a wiki revolving around not just around dolls but also books, a fair number of users seem to have a distinct inability to use a skill I like to call "reading comprehension" despite the numerous warnings posted below this most recent one, judging from the number of users blocked this entire month. Honestly, take the time to read the rules and policies, and if it's your first time here and you've never edited a wiki before, use the sandbox to practice. I'd hate to have to use the banhammer just because someone chose to disregard and not read the rules first, or worse, having to use the banhammer on repeat offenders who failed to learn from the consequences of previous bans.

September 2011[]

September 25, 2011/ Don't Move It.
A new rule is in effect on the Wiki: Don't Move Pages.
That is, unless it's clear that the data you have is accurate 100%, don't move pages. Pleas ask the Admins to move any pages that would be moved, and leave it all on us. This is especially true with names; I mean, we don't have Kit listed by Margaret Mildred.
Violations will get a warning and then a two-week ban on second offense.
As always, thank you for all you do!

September 29, 2011/ AG St. Louis
The St. Louis Business Journal reports that American Girl was given the approval to open a store at Chesterfield Mall in Chesterfield, MO. At this time there is no current date as to when the store will open.

October 2011[]

October 4, 2011 / Girl of the Year 2012 film in the works?
It appears Girl of the Year 2012 may have a film tie-in to her books. IMDb.com lists an untitled American Girl Project for a 2012 release.
There has been speculation this may be a cover-up for the Julie movie musical, but evidence points to the upcoming film being related to GotY 2012. A photo uploaded by Nia Vardalos shows Mary Casanova at a movie set, who has been confirmed as the GotY 2012 author. Additionally, a web resume for Steven Brown, a producer, lists the project as "American Girl of the Year 2012" under Feature Films. It is possible the GotY 2012 film may be a theatrical release unlike Chrissa Stands Strong.
Until there's more information available for either GotY 2012 or the Julie musical, idle and baseless speculation, including ANY references that cite Wikipedia/Yahoo Answers/Wiki Answers/sites of dubious repute, will not be tolerated.
--AkaiKaze, the Other Admin
October 12, 2011 / AG St. Louis update
American Girl has sent out a press release confirming AG St. Louis will open sometime around Spring 2012 in Chesterfield, MO.

November 2011[]

November 7, 2011 / Girl of the Year 2012 events
The American Girl stores have begun listing events and activities associated with GotY 2012. Given the descriptions such as "flip" and "head over heels", along with the photo uploaded by Nia Vardalos showing Mary Casanova and Cathy Rigby, a former gymnast, more likely than not it's now been confirmed GotY 2012 is involved in gymnastics.
Articles on GotY 2012 will not be created until sometime in December when more information is available.

November 16, 2011 / Illiteracy - the reason why we can't have nice things.
Banhammer

This is why we can't have nice things.

Honestly.
Assuming you are capable of possessing basic reading skills, do read the last few newsposts on this front page of the wiki regarding Girl of the Year 2012. Note the recurring message that speculation on GotY 2012 would not be tolerated. Also note the most recent posting that specifically states on when articles on GotY 2012 would be created and the reason why.
There is still not enough information - what GotY 2012's real name will be, what she looks like, what her book summaries will detail, what her movie will be about, or when her movie will be out - to warrant any articles. The wiki doesn't run on rumors, and until rumor becomes fact, rumors are just that: rumors.
It need not be said users will be banned for breaking the rules of the wiki.

November 27, 2011 / GotY 2012 revealed
During the 25th Anniversary cruise American Girl officially revealed that GotY 2012 will be named McKenna, through a video posted by Lisa Yee. McKenna's last name was also revealed but it is hard to hear.
As stated before, articles about McKenna will not be created until sometime in December, when more information will be available, such as written confirmation of McKenna's last name as well her book and movie titles.

December 2011[]

December 8, 2011 / GotY 2012 book titles and summaries.
GoodReads.com has posted summaries and a last name for Girl of the Year 2012, McKenna Brooks.
  • McKenna: Seattle fourth-grader McKenna Brooks, who lives for gymnastics, struggles with school work until Josie, a tutor confined to a wheelchair, helps her with reading comprehension and much more. Ten-year-old McKenna is ready to start fourth grade, but when she begins to fall behind in school, McKenna's teacher suggests she should get help from a tutor and with encouragement from Josie, a confident girl in a wheelchair, McKenna manages to regain confidence in her abilities.
  • McKenna, Ready to Fly!: When Seattle fourth-grader McKenna Brooks’ cast comes off she dives back into gymnastics training in hopes of making the competitive team, but after volunteering at a therapeutic horseback riding center, she considers broadening her interests. After McKenna suffers an injury that causes her to worry about her place on the Shooting Star competitive gymnastics team, she tries to help her tutor, Josie, overcome her fear of horseback riding, but as McKenna and Josie become closer friends, one of McKenna's teammates gets jealous.
Articles relating to McKenna will be put under protection from today until January 1st.

December 9, 2011 / The end of Kanani, the start of McKenna
  • Kanani has sold out; at this time only her party outfit and pajamas remain. Her collection will be retired on January 1st!
  • While all relevant articles to McKenna have been created - and put under protection - based on available and verified information, major details should not be speculated. There's a reason why no article for McKenna's movie exists - the official title has not yet been revealed.
We may all be excited, but the rules certainly apply more now than they ever did. Any poorly done pages will be immediately deleted without any ceremony.

December 20, 2011 / McKenna pictures leaked, and underage account registration
  • DollDiaries.com has managed to obtain a picture of the McKenna Brooks doll as well a partial image of McKenna's meet book.
  • If you intend on registering an account and contributing to the wiki, keep in mind Wikia's Terms of Use explicitly states you must be 13 or older to participate in Wikia. This is to keep the entire Wikia network in compliance with COPPA. While this is a wiki targeted towards children, Wikia's age restriction is beyond the AG administrators' control, and underage users will be blocked as a cautionary measure.

December 26, 2011 / McKenna's collection revealed
