My Journey Books are a category of Historical Character/BeForever gamebooks that focus on a "choose-your-own-adventure" style of storytelling.
Details
Books are written in first person, in the styled of a "choose your own adventure book." The insertion character in the book is mostly not described so as to leave the image vague.[1] Generally, she has a personal problem in her family that relates to the Historical character's life in some way--for example, the character in Julie's Journey book is dealing with adjusting to her parents living in separate locations and the worry they might divorce. The character encounters an item from the past that magically transports her to the character's era; soon after she meets the historical character and spends the majority of the book in their presence. During her actions with the character and others, her issue is often looked at, giving her a perspective she hadn't seen before.
While scary or worrying events happen, none of the endings are wholly negative or end too poorly, and the insertion character is assumed to be able to return back to her own present time regardless. Additional endings are available online at BeForever Endings.
