These are minor characters in the Kavi Sharma books.

Ali[]

A boy who performs a juggling act in the school revue.

Sophie Chandler[]

One of Kavi's best friends. She attends Wicked with Kavi and Pari, and she dresses up as Glinda using her grandmother's prom dress from the 1950s. She performs a Bollywood inspired dance with Kavi and Pari in the school revue and is one of the stage crew in the spring production of Annie.

Miss Clarke[]

The school choir director who assists in the spring production of Annie.

Dadima[]

Kavi's paternal grandmother. Kavi refers to her using the Hindi term "Dadima." She lives close enough to watch her grandchildren when their parents are at work. Kavi says Dadima makes the best cookies, and she also makes good chai. Dadima is a fan of mango ice cream like she used to have in India, though she is picky about the flavors of it in America. Dadima enjoys singing with Kavi, and she gives Kavi four tickets to see Wicked on Broadway for her birthday. With Kavi and Rishi's encouragement, she starts a business called The Cookie Jar.

Finley[]

Alania Peterson's dog. She plays Sandy in the middle school's production of Annie.

Ms. González[]

Kavi and Jake's school counselor. She has them take their math tests in a private room to help with concentration.

Hasan Uncle[]

Mr. Sharma's best friend who helped keep him on task at school. When Sophie and Pari help Kavi study, she thinks of them as her Hasan Uncle. Hasan is called 'uncle' as a sign of respect.

Hattie[]

An elephant charm that Kavi uses for good luck. She got it in India when she was six years old.

Homeroom Teacher[]

Kavi's unnamed homeroom teacher, who reveals to Kavi's parents that she is struggling in school.

Jake[]

A boy in Kavi's math class who shares his learning struggles with her. He has a comedy routine in the revue and plays a policeman in Annie.

Mrs. Nath[]

Pari and Priya's mother, who they call "Amma". She remembers Kavi's love for dosas and modifies Priya's old lehenga so Kavi can wear it for the revue.

Mr. Nath[]

Pari and Priya's father. He takes Kavi home after she visits the Nath house.

Pari Nath[]

One of Kavi's best friends. She attends Wicked with Kavi and Sophie. She also would like to go to Princeton University. She performs a Bollywood inspired dance with Kavi and Sophie in the revue and has a role as an orphan alongside Kavi in the spring production of Annie.

Priya Nath[]

Pari's older sister. She helps Kavi and her friends film a video promoting Dadima's homemade cookie business.

Alania Peterson[]

An eighth grader who stars in the middle school's production of Annie. Kavi is jealous of her at first, but becomes inspired by her.

Mr. Proton[]

Kavi's science teacher. Kavi fails a science quiz in his class

Rina Auntie[]

A dance teacher at the Indian Community Center. Rina is called 'auntie' as a sign of respect.

Mrs. Roberts[]

Kavi's math teacher. Kavi is often distracted in her class.

Seemaji[]

The instructor at the yoga class taken by Kavi and her dad.

Mr. Sharma[]

Kavi's father. He is an architect who works near Edison, NJ. He attended Princeton college.

Neena Sharma[]

Kavi's mother. She sometimes calls Kavi by the nickname "Pookie." She has a graduate degree in microbiology and worked in a lab before Rishi was born. At the start of It's Showtime, Kavi, she is attending job interviews to get back into the workforce.

Rishi Sharma[]

Kavi's eight-year-old brother. He sometimes refers to Kavi as "didi," which means "big sister" in Hindi. He wants to be a doctor and is always diagnosing Kavi with made up conditions.

Scamper[]

The Sharma family's dog. Scamper has long black fur with white fur on his chest, nose, and muzzle. In the book illustrations, he also has white on the tip of his tail. Scamper likes to jump up and "dance" with Kavi and Dadima. His chase with Kavi leads to her first tardy slip at school and he eats one of Dadima's cookie out of her hand in the cookie commercial. When Finley isn't able to perform in Annie, Scamper takes on the role of Sandy.

Ms. Tucker[]

The English and drama teacher who directs the school revue.
