Addy's Plaid Dress, an example of an extra outfit.

Historical Extra Outfits and Accessories are outfits or accessories for Historical Characters in their collections that do not have the set attachment or canon basis in books, movies, and/or short stories.

The defining characteristic of an extra item here is that it is an outfit or accessory that was wholly created by American Girl for the Historical Character's collection, is not tied to another collection set (even small ones), and cannot be seen in books or short story illustrations, even if they were created for the character's movie.[1] These were generally not released in sets, and came scattered among characters.

This does not include Limited Edition Historical Outfits, Extra Story Outfits that were seen in the stories, extra items such as shoe/sock sets or hair ribbons, outfits for characters that did not have outfits specifically set to books in their collections (like Caroline, Cecile, and Marie-Grace); or outfits from the Rolling Through the Ages, Travel Scrapbooks, Dance Outfits of Today, or Historical Swimwear small historical sets.[2] It also does not include any outfits released after the BeForever relaunch (though it does include items that carried into the launch) or any characters released after the depreciation; these are classified at Historical BeForever and Post-Beforever Outfits and Accessories.
