Joss's Volkswagen Surf Bus is part of Joss's Collection and was released on February 24, 2020. It was available for pre-order for AG Rewards members starting February 20. It retired in January 2021. Retail cost was $650.

• Joss's bus was advertised with her debut as the Girl of the Year. Pamphlets, catalogs, and other promotions advertised that it would be released spring 2020.
• The Volkswagen Surf Bus is the most expensive item available for wide release from American Girl.
• American Girl previously partnered with Volkswagen for another item, the Volkswagen Beetle in Julie's Car Wash Set.
• The bus had a $50 shipping charge if purchased online to account for the size and weight of the item. With accessories, this item weighed almost 10 lbs.
• In the books, Joss's brother Liam owns the van. The projector is used in the books when Joss, Sofia, Dylan, and Nico watch their surf competition video together on the beach.
• American Girl has previously released several other items with coolers, the Picnic Goodies, Seaside Accessories, and Beach Cooler Set.
