Samantha's Embroidery Sampler.

Samantha's Embroidery Sampler is a Historical Character Craft Kit introduced to Samantha's Collection in 1991 and retired in 1996. Retail cost was $15.

The kit contains enough to make an embroidered child-sized decorative pillow.

Sampler Cloth[]

Pre-printed linen cloth with lines/marks for where to embroider. Text reads, in all capitals, Actions Speak Louder Than Words in pink cross stitch. Border of blue zig-zag line, and pink flowers in corners and flanking the word "Actions".

Backing Cloth[]

White backing linen cloth.

Embroidery Hoop[]

Wooden embroidery hoop.

Embroidery Thread[]

Four hanks of J&P Coats cotton six-strand embroidery thread:[1]

  • pink (65/DMC 605)
  • dark pink (598/ DMC 603)
  • blue (24A/DMC 813 or 3760)
  • green (603/DMC 987)

Needles[]

Two silver embroidery needles and standard sewing needle. Come inside wooden case.

Wooden needle storage case.

Thimble[]

White porcelain thimble with the Pleasant Company logo. Later versions had a silver metal thimble.

Thread[]

Spool of off-white thread.

Stuffing[]

White polyfil stuffing.

Trivia[]

  • Samantha's embroidery project is actually a significant item and mentioned in Meet Samantha; she spends the majority of the book working on the design during parlor time with Grandmary.
  • The Embroidery Sampler is the only craft project of its kind (as in, not included in a birthday collection) that has been explicitly mentioned in any character's story.
