Information has appeared on Amazon regarding Courtney's second book, Courtney: Friendship Superhero. It confirms the name of her new friend, Issac Wells, and that he has HIV which causes a conflict between Courtney and her friend, Sarah.

Information about the 2021 American Girl Benefit Sale is still not yet set completely, including if the sale will be held at all due to continued limitations on large-scale events in the US. On the Facebook page, some decisions have been announced, with more to be solidified by mid-June.
  • Should the sale continue this year, it will be delayed to September.
  • The format will either return to in-person purchases as in pre-pandemic years or do online ordering requiring pick-up in person with no shipping options available.

May 4, 2021 / 35th Anniversary Special Edition First Six Historical Characters
35th Editions!
For the 35th Anniversary of American Girl, the company has released Special Edition Anniversary dolls of the first six Historical Characters titled the 35th Anniversary Collection: Felicity Merriman, Kirsten Larson, Josefina Montoya, Addy Walker, Samantha Parkington, and Molly McIntire.
The bundles are intended to evoke the older styles of the characters at their original releases (in the case of Kirsten, there are almost no changes at all). A bundle includes the doll in the first released versions of their Meet Outfits, first styles of meet accessories, the first edition parchment style of meet books and an older-style box modified with visibility window and logo image on front. The first five also have the first edition thin-style eyebrows as opposed to newer-style feathered brows and all six have neck strings; the dolls come with a pamphlet about the 35th anniversary. Total cost for a collection is $150. Because of the designs replicating the first release looks and materials used in the process (while staying within US current toy regulations), the Special Edition dolls cannot be shipped outside of the US.

Random House Books for Young Readers will be launching a new American Girl-themed series of books in the US and Canada focused on the Historical Characters.
Five books have been announced. Three are Step Into Reading - Step Three titles, which are books aimed at children in average US Grades 1-3/ages five to eight who are ready to start becoming solitary readers.
The other two are Little Golden Books:
Further yet-to-be-announced books for 2022 will be in the same two brands of books, with potential to expand into other publications.

Bitty Baby Revamp!

A new release majorly focusing on the Bitty Baby line has come out. Notably, the lower age for Bitty Baby items is now eighteen months. (Some items remain at three-plus.) Bitty Baby Dolls now come in a new meet outfit sleeper in three color styles: Pretty Pink, Soft Blue, or Cloud Gray. There is also the new option of Bitty Baby Twins; for a cost of $120 (standard costs per doll), purchasers may select two Bitty Baby dolls in any combination with their selection of sleepers.

American Girl is partnering with Academic Travel Aboard for American Girl Vacations, themed trips focusing on American Girl characters and their lives. The first two vacation packages are scheduled for December 2021 and have limited spots available (a maximum of twenty-five people per group). Prices start at $4,595 per person and include accommodations, event costs, and at least one meal daily, but not airfare. The programs and trip will meet all COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Adults who are not accompanying children cannot attend; trips are intended and focus on children ages seven to twelve.
  • Lights! Camera! Action! Rebecca in New York: New York City from December 26-31, 2021 (six days), focusing on Rebecca Rubin and Jewish American/New York life/theater and movies in the early 20th Century. Activities include attending the NYC performance of the Nutcracker ballet, touring the Tenement Museum, visiting the Bialystocker Synagogue, sewing scarves with the discussion of mitzvah, and an after-hours tour of the Museum of the Moving Image.
  • Hawaiian Holiday with Nanea: Oahu, Hawaii from December 26, 2021 to January 1, 2022 (seven days), focusing on Nanea Mitchell and Hawaiian life/America's entry into World War Two in the mid 20th Century. Activities include visiting the USS Arizona memorial, a private tour of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, visiting the Royal Hawaiian hotel, learning hula dance and making a lei, a luau, volunteering at the Humane Society, and visiting the Bishop Museum.

June 11th, 2021 / American Girl Virtual Summer FunFest in July
In July, American Girl will be holding a virtual Summer Funfest online as part of the 35th Anniversary celebrations. The event, which will be held July 10th and 11th, will include guests such as Magnolia Bakery, Connie Porter, Valerie Tripp, a HerStory panel, and trivia and movie nights.

June 27th, 2021 / 2021 Benefit Sale Update
Updates on the American Girl Benefit Sale were announced on the 25th.
While public health continues to improve it is not at levels for an in-person sale so the sale is going to be held online again this year. Furthermore, 2020 resulted in complete sell-outs of doll inventory and, while inventory continues to come in, inventory is going to be lower than in previous years. This will result in fewer tickets available and more restrictions on purchase limits. Finally, there is to be no shipping; the sale will be requiring item pick-up only in Middleton.
Tickets will go on sale on August 25th with random time lottery assignments, with the sale being held online and for one day only on September 25th. Shoppers will then collect their purchases using curbside pickup from the new warehouse location in Middleton, Wisconsin. Appointments will be assigned on weekends in October starting on the 9th and concluding on the 24th.

Aug 5th, 2021 / 2021 Benefit Sale Update - Limits, Ticket Sales, and More Data
Updates on the American Girl Benefit Sale were announced today. In a first, the purchase limits are being announced before ticket sales are available so as to offer people full information before purchasing, and a double lottery will be used to offer everyone a fair chance at the limited number of tickets.
  • Ticket Sales Lottery and Purchase: Aug 25–26 will be the ticket purchase lottery sign-up; forms will be sent out and available on the website and Facebook page entering the pool for the chance to buy one ticket per person, and only one entry per person will be accepted. From the pool of applicants, people will be informed if they are selected to buy tickets or not by August 27. From August 27th-30th, those who have been selected to purchase tickets will be given the link to allow them to purchase their ticket. Tickets this year cost $12, all sales are final, and limits are one ticket per e-mail/household. Ineligible ticket purchases will be refunded minus a $4-per-ticket fee and and violators may be denied future ticket sales. Shopping times will be randomly assigned to all purchased tickets, with results sent by email to all ticket holders.
  • Ticket Transfers and Purchase Verification:: If a purchaser cannot, for whatever reason, use their ticket--or purchased on behalf of another--then from Sept 1-8th, the ticket can be reassigned using the website, similar to last year. Every email address associated with a ticket must have their online account verified with the Shopify website before the benefit sale or they will not be able to shop; account verification will be open from Sept 13-24th.
  • Shopping: Shopping will be only on Sept 25th.
  • Purchase Limits: At present, the purchase limits will be a sum total of three dolls and two accessories per ticket holder. This is for all dolls in a collective pool--all 18" dolls (Historical, CYO, Modern, and GotY), Bitty Baby, and Bitty Baby gift boxes--and all accessories. There have been no statements on WellieWishers doll availability.
Costs per doll are as follows:
* $60 for Truly Me dolls
* $120 for Create-Your-Own dolls
* $70 for Character Dolls (Historicals, GotY, and Contemporary Characters)
* $40 for Bitty Baby
* $60 for the Bitty Baby Gift Set
Accessories such as furniture, pets, clothing, etc., will be individually priced. Items are not reserved until checkout and may sell out while shopping.
  • Post Sale Pick Up: From October 9-24--weekends only--orders will be available for in-person pickup at the new warehouse in Middleton. Shoppers will have the opportunity to select from available pickup times, as well as designate a proxy to pick up orders. Further info on pickup procedures will be provided in future updates.
  • Bonus Book Buy: As shopping will be tricky and not leave much chance to browse books, a special Bonus Book Buy will be available after the main sale has concluded, where all ticketholders will be able to log back in again and shop for books. Exact times and log-in details for this will be sent out to ticketholders before the sale.
Due to the significant limits on purchase and lack of ticket guarantee, AGBS advises against planning a trip to the sale that involves traveling a long distance. More specific details are available on the official website at American Girl Benefit Sale.

Aug 16th, 2021 / American Girl Coloring Journal / Clarification on Rules on User Page Use
A book by Simon and Schuster, American Girl Coloring Journal, will be released this November.
Clarifications of use of User Pages have been made; while much of this has been implemented in some form since June, they are being further solidified so as to avoid ambiguity in interpretation. The main thing to retain is that your User Page is not your primary contribution to this wiki, and that we are not a fandom hub and thus will encourage all users to focus their editing attention on the main pages. Furthermore, inactive editors should not return only to immediately return to adjusting a personal page.
If admins detect that a user is editing their personal page in such a way that it shows more personal focus rather than contributing to the project (or an inactive user returns after a span of a year or more with no contributions to the project and only focuses on their user page) user will be warned once to contribute properly to the project. If the user page continue to be focused on rather than the primary project needs, a user's page will be temporarily protected for a minimum of a month to encourage focus on the project. The time can be removed and the page unprotected after at least twenty good faith contributing edits have been made for at least a month (both obligations must be fulfilled), but can be placed again if they fail to contribute again.

Due to recent news regarding the heightened transmissibility of the Covid-19 Delta variant and continued rise in infections and cases, American Girl Vacations has canceled both planned trips for 2021 and postponed them to unknown dates.
No further vacation packages have been announced, though the website has stated at present there may be 2022 vacation packages. Those who had booked vacations were sent notice of the cancellation and a small care package of American Girl items in apology.

American Girl has launched details about the World by Us line, an all-new line of contemporary characters. The three main characters--Makena Williams, Evette Peeters, and Maritza Ochoa, have intertwining, unique stories that focus on current social justice and world improvement issues like racism, immigration, the environment, and creating a better world together.

Along with the dolls, books, and items in the collection--which were created with an advisory board--a stop-motion doll series will be made available on American Girl's YouTube and YouTube Kids Channel starting September 27. Character outfits are are designed with collaboration with designers from Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR) while meet Dress Like Your Doll items are in collaboration with Janie and Jack.
As part of the World by Us launch event, the brand hosted a special American Girl Fashion Show on September 23, 2021 at American Girl Place New York and via livestream focused on the HFR designs for the World by Us and Historical Characters. Furthermore, American Girl is supporting HFR's nonprofit organization, ICON360, with a $25,000 donation to help raise awareness and funds for the next generation of BIPOC fashion leaders. The World by Us-inspired doll fashions for the characters will be on pre-sale at launch and become available for purchase at American Girl retail stores starting in March 2022.
Additionally, this fall--to further support children's literacy and provide more diverse books to U.S. schools and public libraries--the company is donating $60,000 worth of World by Us books to the following organizations: Reader to Reader, Kids Need to Read, and Little Free Library Read in Color Initiative.

Continuing the 35th Anniversary celebration, a new item designed by Carly Cushnie, the American Girl Collector Tote, has been released, featuring re-imagined modern-style fashion designs for the first six Historical Characters. American Girl is also auctioning off one of a kind versions of the dolls, designed by Cushnie, on eBay. Each doll starts at $300 with all proceeds to go to Girls who Code, with auctions running from 5:30 pm Sept 23 to 5:30 pm (EDT) Sept 26, or three days.

American Girl has paired with Stoney Clover Lane to release customizable accessory purses and bags in celebration of the 35th anniversary.
The line, titled Stoney Clover Lane x American Girl, consists of the brand's small pouches, large pouches, flat pouches, and mini tote bags in prints based on the first six Historical Characters's Classic Meet Outfits along with character patch designs and letters that can either be purchased separately or used to customize the bags.

Peak Anticipation!

American Girl has put up a preview image of the new 2022 Girl of the Year. The character and collection will be released on December 30th in stores and on Good Morning America, and preorders for the doll and meet accessories are available now. Images show that character's name is Corinne Tan, and her collection focuses on winter sports and activities. She also has a companion in her younger sister, Gwynn Tan.
Don't forget our policy on Rumors, Leaks, and Hearsay. We still block for six months on the very first offense for anything uploaded or created before American Girl makes an official release. Furthermore, one of our policies is that for the first several months after new lines and characters are released, all high traffic pages for them are protected for a set amount of time. This is to prevent bad faith edits and poor data implementation. This has the policy for some time; in the past before this policy was implemented, early items being released drew rumors, leaks, hearsay, and inaccurate data, as well as poorly done edits, and admins had to spend early parts of a release cleaning up messes. Too many people--in this fandom and others--want to be first to state anything, regardless of how properly done the data is implemented.
Once the articles are open, then all edits will need to be made according to the site's Article Creation, Editing Guidelines, and Style Guide or they will be summarily removed and users corrected by admin or content creators. As we say, it doesn't matter if you're the first to do it, it matters that you're doing it right.
