The Doll and Cradleboard.

The Doll and Cradleboard (also known as Kaya's Doll and Cradleboard) were introduced to Kaya's Collection in 2002 and retired in 2015. Retail cost was $20 and increased to $32.

Doll[]

Cloth doll with a black printed face. Hand-beaded faux-leather dress. It has blue, white, and red beads along the top of the dress and sections of white and black beads along the front. The doll's long black braids are tied with faux suede and have beading to simulate abalone shells.

Cradleboard[]

Lace-up cradleboard with a printed design on top. Brown laces to hold doll. Decorative beads on side. A strap can be used to carry it or to attach it to a saddle. This simulates a cradleboard that traditionally would have been used to carry infants.

Trivia[]

  • The doll and cradleboard are based on existing toys from the Nez Perce. Girls used these to develop skills they would need as adults. The doll's facial features would have been hand embroidered and the doll's hair would have been human hair.
