Dan Andreasen is an illustrator and author. He has worked on multiple American Girl books, specifically Felicity's series and Samantha's series.

Biography[]

Dan Andreasen began professionally as a sculptor for American Greetings Corp. where he designed figurines, Christmas ornaments and gift products. He has illustrated more than thirty-five picture books. His publishing clients include Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, Penguin, Scholastic, American Girl, Harcourt and Henry Holt. His illustrations have also been used to advertise a wide variety of products including Folgers, Harley Davidson, Fanny Farmer, Orville Redenbacher, Kraft, and Marshall Fields. He also illustrates paper dolls for the the oliver + s pattern company.

Regarding American Girl, he is the illustrator of two of the American Girl historical characters, Felicity and Samantha (the latter being a re-illustration of the series). Felicity's younger sister Nan Merriman and brother William Merriman were based on his children; later when he did the Samantha books, he used his daughter as the model for Samantha Parkington and her best friend for Nellie O'Malley, and his wife for several characters including Mrs. Hawkins. He also did illustrations for various Portfolios of Pastimes books.

Dan also has done illustrations for the New Little House series of books The Rose Years, The Caroline Years, and The Charlotte Years.

He lives in Medina, Ohio with his wife and three children.
