The Ballet Costume I was an American Girl of Today outfit released in 1995 and retired in 1999. Retail cost was $22.

The outfit is evocative of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker Suite.

Leotard[]

One-piece light pink satin leotard. Attached pink tulle tutu with pearl accents throughout. Bodice has flowery lace trim with vine lace pattern in center. Pearl accents on vines. Strand of pearls around waist. Sheer puffed sleeves. Back of bodice is a lighter pink, stretchy fabric. Snaps up back.

Wings[]

Sheer iridescent wings that attach to the back of the leotard. Fabric is sewn onto a pink metal piece in center; metal hook attaches to back of leotard.

Tiara[]

Plastic tiara with pearl bead trim. White plastic base molded in a decorative twisted pattern. Shimmery pink accent paint. Tiara has white glittery base with pearl accent trim on top. Pink rhinestone in center.

Wand[]

Plastic six-pointed flower wand with pearl bead trim. Pink rhinestone in center. White glittery base. Long white plastic handle molded in a decorative twisted pattern. Shimmery pink accent paint. Several long, shimmery streamers are attached to flower.

Slippers[]

Pink satin ballet slippers. Matching pink bow at toes.

Tights[]

White tights.

Program[]

Pink program pamphlet for The Nutcracker Suite ballet. It is advertised as presented by "The American Girl Ballet Company." Inside of pamphlet includes information about the composers, the acts of the ballet, and a description of the plot. When open, the pamphlet page measures 3 5/8" x 2 13/16" wide.
