The '''American Girls Album''' is a family history album focusing on the first six [[Historical Characters]]. It was released in '''1998''' and later [[Retirement|retired]]. 

==Overview==

The hardback book is intended to be a family history album, with opening pages about personal family history and memoirs and tips on how to record family history, as well as tidbits and trivia about [[Felicity Merriman]], [[Josefina Montoya]], [[Kirsten Larson]], [[Addy Walker]], [[Samantha Parkington]], and [[Molly McIntire]]. A family tree is included as well which includes both the maternal and paternal side of the family, and a section on ancestry. 

Like its predecessor, the [[American Girls Album]], the book encourages the user to write their family story (it is assumed that the user is female) and get stories from their mother and two grandmothers--paternal and maternal. The sections are divided and ordered the same way the [[Central Series]] are on the margins are  small facts and information about the characters and historical eras; these are per character, though some are grouped together. The last page is for photographs to be added. 

==''An American Girl's Keepsake Box''==

The album was also sold as part of ''An American Girl's Keepsake Box''; retail cost was ''$34.75.'' The box is a metal storage tin--gold, with a hinged lid designed like the book. It includes the book, a poster sized version of the family tree, a black felt tip medium point calligraphy pen, a 48-page hardcover spiral bound memory book, and three pewter frames (rectangular, heart, and oval with pearl accents in molded bow center at tops). 

==Trivia==

* The book makes the same mistake as the previous book, the '' American Girls Album,'', in that it claims that Kirsten's last name was "Larsdotter" in Sweden, as Papa's name was Lars; however, his name is [[Anders Larson]].
