GoodReads.com has posted summaries and a last name for Girl of the Year 2012, McKenna Brooks.
McKenna: Seattle fourth-grader McKenna Brooks, who lives for gymnastics, struggles with school work until Josie, a tutor confined to a wheelchair, helps her with reading comprehension and much more. Ten-year-old McKenna is ready to start fourth grade, but when she begins to fall behind in school, McKenna's teacher suggests she should get help from a tutor and with encouragement from Josie, a confident girl in a wheelchair, McKenna manages to regain confidence in her abilities.
McKenna, Ready to Fly!: When Seattle fourth-grader McKenna Brooks’ cast comes off she dives back into gymnastics training in hopes of making the competitive team, but after volunteering at a therapeutic horseback riding center, she considers broadening her interests. After McKenna suffers an injury that causes her to worry about her place on the Shooting Star competitive gymnastics team, she tries to help her tutor, Josie, overcome her fear of horseback riding, but as McKenna and Josie become closer friends, one of McKenna's teammates gets jealous.

During the 25th Anniversary cruise American Girl officially revealed that GotY 2012 will be named McKenna, through a video posted by Lisa Yee. McKenna's last name was also revealed but it is hard to hear.
As stated before, articles about McKenna will not be created until sometime in December, when more information will be available, such as written confirmation of McKenna's last name as well her book and movie titles.

Assuming you are capable of possessing basic reading skills, do read the last few newsposts on this front page of the wiki regarding Girl of the Year 2012. Note the recurring message that speculation on GotY 2012 would not be tolerated. Also note the most recent posting that specifically states on when articles on GotY 2012 would be created and the reason why.
There is still not enough information - what GotY 2012's real name will be, what she looks like, what her book summaries will detail, what her movie will be about, or when her movie will be out - to warrant any articles. The wiki doesn't run on rumors, and until rumor becomes fact, rumors are just that: rumors.
It need not be said users will be banned for breaking the rules of the wiki.
The American Girl stores have begun listing events and activities associated with GotY 2012. Given the descriptions such as "flip" and "head over heels", along with the photo uploaded by Nia Vardalos showing Mary Casanova and Cathy Rigby, a former gymnast, more likely than not it's now been confirmed GotY 2012 is involved in gymnastics.
Articles on GotY 2012 will not be created until sometime in December when more information is available.
Kanani Akina is the Girl of the Year for 2011! She is multiracial--Hawai'ian, Japanese, French, and German--and from Kaua'i, the geologically oldest island of Hawai'i.
